The new wildflower meadow on Coldharbour Common is full of flowers, and nobody can find any bees in it. On Friday it will be cut down with the hay. Wren knows what bees like: bright colours. So she spends her birthday money on the reddest flowers she can find. Ezra starts counting, ten minutes at a time. And an old camera in a drawer at the field station is about to show them a meadow nobody has ever seen.

About the Small Worlds series
Small Worlds is a series of illustrated adventures for readers aged ten to twelve about the small living things all around us. Wren and her new stepbrother Ezra, at a field station on the edge of a wild common, chase real questions about insects, plants and pond life with a hand lens, a field guide and no magic. Each book delivers one natural-history topic through a race to answer a question before something is lost, and teaches how to look closer.
