One night in the museum, the sun disappears from Monet's harbour painting. When Felix and Noor touch its frame together, they land on the gas-lit quay of Le Havre in 1872, an hour before the sunrise Monet means to paint. His paint box has been picked up by a harbour trader, and Noor has to choose which colours to save by lamplight. She is sure she knows a black tube when she sees one.

About the Studio Detectives series
Studio Detectives is a series of illustrated adventures for readers aged ten to twelve about art, music and performance. Felix, who draws everything, and his sister Noor, who drums on everything, go to work at night with their dad, a museum guard in Paris. When the galleries are dark, some works begin to hum, and if both children touch one, it takes them into its own story. Each book delivers one art form through a real work, a real time and the evidence of how it was made.
